About
A small team building one careful product.
CareJournal is a British progress journal for SEN and SEND schools. We are currently working with one pilot school, shaping the product around real classroom use before opening it more widely.
We are not trying to build a noisy platform for every setting. We are building one careful product for specialist education, and we will grow only when the product is ready to serve more schools well.
Why we built it
SEN and SEND provision deserves software written for it.
Many progress journals were designed for early-years settings, where children are often assessed against shared developmental bands. Specialist education is different.
Each child may follow a bespoke pathway across communication, self-care, emotional regulation, independence and life skills. Staff need a way to record meaningful moments quickly, without being pulled away from the child or left with paperwork at the end of the day.
CareJournal is built around that reality: progress noticed in the room, recorded simply, and brought together clearly over time.
How we work
Closely, with the people we are building for.
Every part of CareJournal is shaped through feedback from practitioners, support staff and senior leaders in our pilot setting.
We test the product against real school routines: busy classrooms, limited time, different roles, sensitive information and the need for clear evidence without unnecessary admin.
We are intentionally small. One product. One pilot. One careful release rhythm. We will expand only when doing so makes the platform stronger for the schools, staff and children it serves.

Who is behind it
Owned by Special Pathways. Built by UKSkyTech.
CareJournal is a Special Pathways product. The platform is designed, built and operated on behalf of Special Pathways by UKSkyTech Ltd, an independent software studio registered in the United Kingdom.
Together, the teams look after the product end to end: the web admin, the mobile app, the hosting environment and the infrastructure beneath it.
CareJournal is designed around sensitive pupil information, with role-based access, audit trails, encrypted data and clear permission boundaries. There are no advertising features, no social feed and no third-party trackers.
